In Class Listening - Jerry Lee Lewis
We have listened to many interesting musicians this week, from Little Richard, to Harry "The Hipster" Gibson. But the one that stood out to me was Jerry Lee Lewis. Back when I was a small child, my mom used to rent this video for me, called "Fabulous Fords of the Fifties". The opening song in this video was actually Jerry Lee Lewis' song Great Balls of Fire. Therefore this song is very nostalgic for me. However, when I was a little kid I did not know how messed up Jerry Lee Lewis was. 8 wives, married his first cousin once removed at 21 while she was only 13, and rumor has it that he may have murdered some of his wives; that's insane. And although his character might not be ideal, his music is still incredible and serves as an inspiration to many musicians today. Here is some information on the man behind the music: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/jerry-lee-lewis-mn0000332141. Once again, thanks for reading The Jack Barton Blog, and have a nice day!
What I'm Listening To - Hoodie Allen
On the 27th of August at one o'clock in the afternoon, my current favorite musician, Hoodie Allen, released a new song. The song is called Feel the Love and it is an homage to the support he receives from his fans. He has been my favorite artist for more than a year now for his incredible lyricism and the fantastic production in his songs. He will be in Austin on September 25th and I plan to be there. He is going to be huge and already had his first official album go number one on the iTunes charts for several days. However, you can get most of his music for free on his website. Everyone should for sure check him out, some links to his various pages are below. Thanks for reading The Jack Barton Blog, and have a nice day!
