In Class Listening - The Beatles (Please Please Me)

In class this week, we have been listening to the first two albums from the Beatles.  My favorite Beatles albums are Abbey Road and Revolver, but Please Please Me is definitely climbing the charts.  Although there are many covers of songs on this album, I think that The Beatles cover them fantastically, adding their own personal charm.  Here are some links to my favorite songs on the album.

Love Me Do

I have always loved this song.  This song utilizes the harmonica, a much overlooked instrument.

I Saw Her Standing There
This song is an original and an incredible way to start an album.

Misery
This song was new to me and I really liked all of the harmonies!

Chains
I don't know what I enjoyed about this song, but I really liked it.

There are so many more songs that are spectacular on this album, but these are some of my favorites.  Some were kind of strange, like the song A Taste of Honey, but even that one was fun to listen to, because of the changes between 3/4 and 4/4 time.
Anyway, thank you for reading The Jack Barton Blog, and have a nice day!
